What is the best present you can give to a child suffering from a disease or an illness? Is it a toy? A book? A pair of shoes? Or perhaps a set of clothes? What if for one day, you can dress up as a Santa and instead of material things, you can give these children the gift of life? Would you do it? If you answered yes, then the BTR Liverpool Santa Dash, the biggest and longest established Santa Run in the UK, is just for you. On December 3, run across Liverpool in your Santa suit, with other Santas from different backgrounds and of various ages and sizes, for the benefit of Alder Hey Children’s Charity. This organization helps Alder Hey Children’s Hospital acquire life-saving medical equipment and facilities for their young patients and also funds their critical children’s health research.
The BTR Liverpool Santa Dash is the biggest and longest established Santa Run in the UK and in just the second year (back in 2005) achieved Guinness World Record status for the Biggest Santa Gathering.
The 5K fun run starts at the magnificent Pier Head in front of the famous Liver Building and by 9.30am the whole of the public space is completely full of Santas, many bedecked in traditional red with some blue among the mass crowd.
The 5K route flows through the city centre passing through the Royal Albert Dock and back along the main waterfront roads before turning into the tightly packed streets to finish in front of the Town Hall.
Runners are greeted with giant Christmas characters and a flurry of snow right on the finish line.
It really kickstarts Christmas in Liverpool every year and this run has everything for all the family, even a 1K Mini Dash for under 12s which happens at the conclusion of the main 5K.
All runners who choose to support Alder Hey Children’s Charity will receive a fully branded unique running box which includes a technical t-shirt/vest.
There’s a quote by Helen Keller that goes, “Believe, when you are most unhappy, that there is something for you to do in the world. So long as you can sweeten another’s pain, life is not in vain.” This Christmas 2023, give the gift of life and get the gift of happiness and purpose in return. Register for the run now.
