Ernie helps Kate, who is disabled, in a similar way to a guide dog, and the swimathon is to raise money to train more dogs like him. Kate is hoping 35 dogs will take part on the day with each one having exclusive use of the special pool at Halfkey Kennels for ten minutes with a hydrotherapist. Vets from the Avenue Road Veterinary Centre will also be on hand.
