THE ward that treated Barton-Upon-Humber landlord Simon Tuplin after he was assaulted outside his pub is likely to receive more than £1,000 from town
residents following a hugely successful charity day. Mr Tuplin, the landlord of the Red Lion in High Street, was admitted to Hull Royal Infirmary in a coma, after an incident outside his own pub on May 15. He was treated in the rehabilitation ward at before being allowed to return to his parent’s address this weekend. They organised a charity fishing match at two local ponds, followed by a karaoke and disco night at the Red Lion. They also organised a mammoth raffle, with more than 70 prizes, the proceeds from which will also go to Hull Royal Infirmary’s rehabilitation ward. Trudy Salter, Vicky’s sister and bar manager at the pub, said Mr Tuplin had visited the pub over the weekend. “He came in for about half-an-hour and had a chat with people and then they went for a meal,” she explained.
Mr Tuplin, she said, was now on the road to recovery. “There is still a bit of confusion there, but that is to be expected.
