A SPECIAL event aimed at raising cash and awareness is set to take place next month.
The fashion show on September 26 is being organised by nurses at St John’s Hospital’s oncology unit and all the profits from the event will go to the department. But as well as raising cash, the event at The Club in Broxburn, is a chance for some of the unit’s patients to have fun, since they will be the models on the night. Linda Hammel, a breast care nurse at the hospital and one of the event’s organisers, said the fashion shows have proved popular in the past. She said: “We did a fashion show using our patients a few years ago and we decided we would do it again because it was quite successful. “It stemmed from the fact that breast cancer awareness events are held every year involving patients and we thought we could do something similar. “We are really pleased as this year we have received support from Debenhams and Swarovski who are supplying the clothes and jewellery for our models to wear.
“The aim is to raise awareness as well as fundraising.”
