Claire Will Swim In The Loch To Raise Money For Bird Charity 2009: Bighearted Hamilton

Claire will swim in the loch to raise money for bird charity

A BIG-hearted Hamilton woman will brave the waters of Strathclyde Loch to take part in the Great Scottish Swim later this month.
Claire Brady has vowed to raise money for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds by swimming one mile in Strathclyde Park’s man-made loch on August 29. The 33-year-old, from Fairhill, is hoping to complete the swim in under one hour and is confident she will raise more than &pound100 for the RSPB’s conservation work. This will be the mum-of-three’s first open water swim although she has taken part in other endurance events, including the London Marathon. She explained: “I do like to run but I have got an injury so I decided to get back into swimming. “I have been going to the Water Palace in Hamilton and that’s where I picked up a leaflet for the Great Scottish Swim. “I thought it would be a good experience and thought that I could combine it with raising money for charity. I picked the RSPB as I have always had an interest in wildlife.
“I have been training at the Water Palace but it will be quite a bit different swimming in the loch in the open waters.”
