Nyanza site walk is Saturday Federal and local officials will conduct a public walk-through of the long-closed Nyanza dye company site Saturday, May 16,
at 8:30 a.m., and will answer questions on the area. The Nyanza site is named after the last company to produce textile dyes and other products there, though production lasted from 1917 to 1978. Large volumes of wastewater with chemicals and acid were discharged from the business. As a result, soil, groundwater, surface water and nearby wetlands as well as the Sudbury River were contaminated. The site itself was cleaned and capped long ago. Let us wash the pollen off your car!
