Great bowling again at the Courtenay Lawn Bowling green as the Executives and committee members from the North Island Zone Clubs met for the
President’s Cup on Thursday, May 21. Primarily meant as a social event, there is a trophy involved, so social and competitive aspects are both very keen. Courtenay with Jackie West, Archie Harris, Carole Nelson, Gaynor Bereza, Vern Greenhill and Pat Cutt won the event for the third year in a row. George Gibson, Zone Represen-tative to Bowls BC presented the trophy. Sunday, May 31 is the Cummunity Challenge, we have 6 teams lined up to bowl for Charity. These are non-bowlers coming out to try the game with help of attending bowling club members. Proceeds go to Yana. There will be prizes and refreshments. FMI Jackie West, 334-8112. Two teams of travellers are off to Nanaimo May 30 and 31 for the Centennial 4’s tournament. There will be coaching sessions in the evenings on this first week of June. Pairs league starts June 9th. You may sign up to play with the same partner or play aggregate on Pairs night. Sign-up sheets are posted for Wednesday Mixed league. There must be at least 4 teams to make this a go. There will be a Potluck BBQ on Friday, May 29 at 5:30 pm. Bowling afterward for those interested. Bring your own item to BBQ and something to share with others.
Bring a friend, relative or other acquaintance…PotLucks are fun!
