DARTS players at The Windmill pub on Wigan Road are steeling themselves for another marathon charity event.
The 24-hour tournament held last year was such a success that organisers have decided to make it into an annual fundraiser, in aid of Legacy Rainbow House, which provides services for children with neurological problems. Supporters are urged to come along and offer encouragement &ndash the marathon starts at midday on Saturday, February 28, and the teams will continue playing through the night, after the pub closes at the usual time. However after failing their attempt to break the world record of 1,003,000 points scored in a 24-hour period, this year the teams have set themselves a more modest target of beating last year’s total of 655,000 points. The team will once again include local golfer and Advertiser Sports Personality of the Year 2007 David Shacklady. AN Ormskirk mum was diagnosed with cancer after undergoing a breast reduction to halt years of back pain. ORMSKIRK hospital’s maternity unit was forced to close its doors to expectant mums seven times last year.
