Looking for a local business 27 May 09 04:37am by Nick Berrett BUNYA: There are shades of every Queensland community reflected in Elisabeth
Lawrence’s art. Most of the Bunya resident’s work portrays the humble corner store as the focal point, while other pieces depict typical Queensland houses. The art is completed with shades of turquoise and yellow, synonymous with Queensland’s arid outback and brilliant skies. Mrs Lawrence has recently donated several pieces of her artwork to an upcoming statewide art exhibition and charity auction. Entitled “Art for Art’s sake”, the event is the fifth annual fundraising art exhibition for the Cerebral Palsy League.
Mrs Lawrence said her inspiration came from experiencing different communities and how, in particular, the family-run corner store, where children would buy ice-creams, fit in.
