Family Weekend 2024

Uniting for Dravet Syndrome: Supporting Hope Together.

Dravet Syndrome is a rare and severe form of epilepsy that affects infants and young children. Named after Dr. Charlotte Dravet, who first described the condition, it is characterized by frequent and prolonged seizures that can be difficult to control. This neurological disorder often presents itself in the first year of life, and its impact extends far beyond seizures alone. Individuals with Dravet Syndrome may also experience developmental delays, cognitive impairments, behavioral challenges, and other associated health complications. As researchers continue to unravel the complexities of this syndrome, raising awareness and supporting those affected becomes crucial in providing a better quality of life for individuals and their families.

One organization at the forefront of supporting individuals and families affected by Dravet Syndrome is Dravet Syndrome UK. Committed to improving the lives of those living with this challenging condition, they provide vital resources, advocacy, and community support to empower individuals and promote research towards better treatments and a potential cure.

Mark your calendars for Family Weekend 2024, an eagerly anticipated event organized by Dravet Syndrome UK. This inclusive gathering brings together families, medical professionals, and researchers to foster knowledge-sharing, provide a supportive network, and offer valuable insights into managing and understanding Dravet Syndrome.

Our next Family Weekend Away will take place from Friday 14th to Monday 17th June 2024 at Center Parcs Sherwood Forest.

The magic of our Annual Family Weekend Away:
What to expect

An opportunity for those living with Dravet Syndrome to experience a family holiday in a safe and welcoming environment.

Plenty of opportunity for parents to meet, unwind and talk with others who really understand what living with Dravet Syndrome means, sharing experiences and knowledge.
Activities for siblings to meet, chat and have fun with other youngsters who are in exactly the same position, without having to feel that they need to explain their brother or sisters condition, which so often happens.

Two ambulances & medical crews with us onsite for the duration of the weekend, to respond to emergencies. We know that severe, frequent and prolonged seizures mean families affected by Dravet Syndrome need to be close to urgent medical attention at all times.
