Feral hog is fair game at annual benefit dinner Dripping Springs — Grammy winner and famed country singer Rick Trevino will be the featured
musical act at the 19th Annual Dripping Springs Wild Game Dinner and Charity Auction, slated for 6 p.m. Saturday at the Dripping Springs High School Cafeteria. Advance tickets are now available. The Wild Game Dinner is an annual dinner and auction hosted by the United Methodist Men (UMM) of Dripping Springs United Methodist Church (DSUMC). Trevino has charted 14 singles on the Billboard “Hot Country Songs” charts, and recorded seven studio albums. His highest-charting single, “Running Out of Reasons to Run,” spent one week at Number One in 1997. In addition to his successful career in Country music, Trevino has enjoyed success in Tejano music. He was a member of the Latin American group Los Super Seven, which won a Grammy Award for Best Mexican/Mexican-American Album in 1999. “We are excited and grateful that Rick has generously offered to bring his considerable talents to our event,” said Ragan Altizer, chairman of this year’s Wild Game Dinner. “Rick’s involvement just confirms the fact that the Wild Game Dinner has become one of the most eagerly anticipated annual event in the Hill Country. People from all over the Central Texas region come to the Wild Game Dinner. It’s a great time for everyone, with great food, fun and tremendous fellowship.” Local organizations that will benefit from proceeds raised at the Wild Game Dinner include: • Dripping Springs Helping Hands The mission of Helping Hands is to provide the community of Dripping Springs with a framework of compassionate care designed to assist neighbors in time of need, regardless of their age, creed, or ethnic origin. Its goal is to lighten the burden of neighbors who are temporarily enduring hard times. • The Burke Center for At-Risk Youth A nonprofit organization formed in 1973 to care for Texas children who are removed from their home environments due to abuse, neglect, or problems with the law. • Hill Country Senior Citizens Activity Center A place that provides meals, recreation, health screenings and transportation for seniors in Dripping Springs and Wimberley. • The Friends Foundation A non-profit organization committed to providing financial support to the elderly and to those in need of nursing care, whether in a nursing home, an independent living center, or at their own home in the Dripping Springs. This year’s menu includes varieties of prepared entrees including venison, elk, fallow deer, white tail deer, pronghorn antelope, feral hog and pheasant gumbo.
