GRAND JUNCTION (KJCT)- Local firefighters and police put some friendly rivalry to the test on the speedway Saturday afternoon– racing go-karts for a good
cause. The local peace officer's union and firefighters union organized the event with the Grand Junction Motor Speedway to raise money for charity. So far they've raised almost $2,000. No matter who wins the races, they say everybody wins because the proceeds go to charity. Firefighters and police say they're competitive– but it's all in good fun. “It's a good rivalry. We work together on the street day and night so we see each other all the time. It's fun to come out here and raise against them. There's a lot of competitiveness but it's all in fun,” said Brian Frazier with the Grand Junction Peace Officer's Association.
“There's some good ribbing going on, and some joking going on. It's for a good cause. We're 0-2 with these guys on broomball, so we're hoping to even the score today and bring home a trophy,” said Kevin Kuhlman with the Local 2808 Firefighters Union.
