First Responders Use Event To Help Fallen Firefighters And Officers 2009: Desert Sun

First responders use event to help fallen firefighters and officers

The Desert Sun • May 12, 2009 Local firefighters and police officers are grappling with a problem — and with each other.
The problem is how to help the families of fallen firefighters and officers. Part of the solution is Guns-N-Hoses, a regional charity event that will take place Wednesday during the California Homeland Security Response Conference in the Palm Springs Convention Center. The event will feature nine grappling matches along with entertainment, including a DJ, bagpipes and drum teams. Palm Springs police officer Mike Barredo (top) and fight trainer Cub Swanson train for the Guns and Hoses police vs. firefighters fight competition on Monday at the Next Level Fitness Center in Palm Desert.
