Hammerheads hosted a charity fish fry on Saturday, 16 May attracting locals and tourists alike.
Proceeds from the Hammerhead’s Fish Fry will go towards The National Council of Voluntary Organisations (NCVO). Organisers said the event is to be a first in a series of fish fries to come, and indeed Hammerheads will be hosting their second fish fry on Saturday, 30 May. The intention, organisers said, is to further attract locals and tourists and create a market atmosphere along the waterfront. We want to develop the idea of turning the Hammerheads parking lot into a local tourist attraction once per month. We are looking to develop it further by getting coconut vendors and local artisans displaying their arts and crafts.” Mr Mansfield said organisers are seeking a local flavour for the event: “We want this area to be more of a local tourist attraction. Eventually, we want to get vendors from each district to set up their stalls here. As long as it is Caymanian produced we will help to promote it. We are looking for people to produce foods, music, arts & crafts, and jewelry to help to create a local market that will help to stimulate tourism.”
He added, “The Hammerheads fish fry is a showcase for Caymanian products.”
