Keeping up with Bruce Jenner has never been easy.
When he attended Newtown High School back in the late ’60s, he won MVP in numerous sports. After graduation and college he went on to set a world record in the Olympics, and tried his hand at auto and powerboat racing, among other endeavors. Since 2007 he’s been on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” a TV reality show featuring his wife and stepdaughters. It was 1976 when Jenner set that world record and took home a gold medal in the decathlon. His picture was plastered on Wheaties cereal boxes and he went on to become an NBC announcer, as well as a correspondent for “Good Morning America.” He also did some acting and directing, and was a motivational speaker. Now 59 and living in Calabasas, Calif., Jenner has fond memories of his life in Newtown. We caught up with him — luckily for us he wasn’t running — at a recent celebrity charity golf tournament at Foxwoods Resort and Casino. The tournament “Big Shots Titans at the Tee” long drive championships paired celebrities like Jenner with professional long drivers. It included actor Mark Wahlberg and NFL great Lawrence Taylor, among others, and is Here’s what Jenner had to say about Newtown, his work, and life with the Kardashians: Can you tell us a little bit about your time at Newtown High School I graduated from Newtown High School in 1968 I mostly grew up in Westchester County, in the Tarrytown area. But then at the beginning of my junior year of high school we moved to Newtown. Why Actually we lived in Sandy Hook because my whole family was into competitive water skiing. We built this house on the lake, on Lake Zoar, so we had our own jump and course and it was kind of our family sport growing up, and so we moved there and I went to Newtown High School my junior and senior year.
