Geri Halliwell has joined the White Ribbon Alliance in support of a birthing campaign, after a report, Better Off Dead, was released about millions of women negatively affected by birthing.
The report estimates that anywhere from 10 to 20 million mothers are injured and disabled through the birthing process every year, and many are abandoned and ostracized because of this.
However, studies show that when access to health care is provided, mothers do not die and are less likely to be injured through childbirth.
‘Women are at the heart of their families, communities and countries. Their health and survival has a huge impact on the economy and the environment, and on peace and stability,’ Geri Halliwell said advocating for the White Ribbon Alliance campaign.
