Copes Rubbish Removal has stated it is proud to support the Watertown Foundation, as it is the
only community foundation dedicated solely to the Watertown and Oakville communities. Established in 1925, the Watertown Foundation supports a wide variety of organizations and groups including local recreational, athletic, cultural, educational, health, families, the elderly, historic preservation, faith-based organizations and more. It has been enhancing the quality of life in our community for decades, and in 2008 alone awarded $30,000 in educational scholarships and over $100,000 in support to other organizations in the greater Watertown area. The golf tournament was held at the Foxwoods’ Lake of Isles golf course, a championship course designed by Rees Jones and rated “Top Ten New Courses You Can Play” by Golf Magazine and “Best New Upscale Public Course” by Golf Digest. Golfers were transported by bus from Watertown on the morning of May 11. There was a shotgun start to the event, which was then followed by a luncheon, some free time at the casino, and the return trip to Watertown in the evening. “We have held this event for three years now,” stated Mr. Dunbar. “The first two years were purely for the enjoyment of the golfers. This year we decided to grow the event into something beneficial to our community. In the first year we had 24 golfers. This year, we had 64 participants. It was a great event – both enjoyable and meaningful.”
