As part of the annual Trinity Days event, students at Holy Trinity broke into various groups Friday morning to participate in campus events.
“We’re starting with Trinity Days – three days that will help get us started with a focus on community, service, and faith,” said Holy Trinity principal Chris Mosmeyer. “Every student is put into a family named after an Irish saint,” he said. “It’s kind of like the Harry Potter houses. The families then work together as a unit for charity drives, social events and other competitions.” St. Mary’s students also were scheduled to participate in special activities, including a bell-ringing ceremony to ring in the new school year. Back at Holy Trinity, students who participated in a blindfolding event said they were having fun, and were excited to start the school year. “It’s a little bit different here this year than it has been on past first days,” said Christian Wiedenfeld, 17, a senior. “It’s fun coming in early. It is a little bit different. Some of my friends are still sitting around at home. “But I think it’s worth it,” Wiendenfeld said about the first day, which began a week earlier than most Bell County public schools. “We get out a lot earlier at the end of the year.”
Wiendenfeld said his goals for the year are to get ready for college and “take care of business.”
