Horse Riding Nicola trains in Lungorsquos yard

LEN LUNGO’S Hetland Hill Farm at Carrutherstown will be Nicola Jardine’s base as she prepares for the John Smith’s People’s Race.
The event gives 10 riders the chance to ride in a charity flat race at Aintree on Grand National Day. As well as being part of the world’s most prestigious horse-racing event, Nicola’s chosen charity, Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre (TRC) could also benefit as each of the 10 riders will earn their cause &pound5,000, with the Grand winner raising a total of &pound50,000 for charity. Len Lungo has been one of the top trainers on the northern circuit for many years and has enjoyed plenty of success at the major meetings including Cheltenham and Aintree. The Bajan Bandit and Mirjan have been two of his most successful horses. Ten trainers, including Nicky Henderson, Alan King and Howard Johnson, have been added to the high-quality ranks of trainers on hand to lend their expert advice and facilities to each of the final 16 riders. Nicola Jardine, a 29-year-old equine sports therapist from Lockerbie is relishing the experience of riding out at Len’s training yard.
“I’m really enjoying the opportunity to ride out every day and am already feeling the benefit of the hard work.
