Get involved HUNDREDS of walkers put their best foot forward at the weekend to take part in the 14th Leofric Lions Coventry Walkathon.
Scores of people flocked to the War Memorial Park in Coventry on Sunday morning to complete as many laps of the 1.75 mile course, as possible, for a host of worthwhile causes, including the Lions’ chosen charity Diabetes UK. Leofric Lions fundraising chairman Reg Brown expected 400 people to take part in this year’s event, which since its creation has raise more than £140,000 for charity. He said: “This is a great vehicle for raising money and all of the money, including the entrance fee, goes to charity. “This year we have linked in with Diabetes UK’s walk in the park. “We chose this charity because 13,000 people in Coventry have the condition, including some of our members.”
