Kansai cake shops show special sweets in Osaka The second Tempozan Sweets Island, a confection exhibition that opened Wednesday in Minato Ward, Osaka, will
run until May 24. Around four popular cake shops in the Kansai region are setting up booths each week at Tempozan Market Place, a commercial facility next to Kaiyukan aquarium. Ten shops in total will participate in the event. On Sunday, 20 sponge cake rolls will go on sale. Ten of them, in flavors including strawberry, green tea, and sweet chestnut, are sold per cut, costing from ¥200 to ¥340. Visitors can enjoy the cakes in the facility’s food court. Other special items at the event include Kobe’s Kashis Patrie’s ice cream parfait (till Wednesday) and Osaka’s Dojima Sweets’ pudding (May 16 to 24). The venue is the special gallery space on the second floor of Tempozan Market Place, which is a five-minute walk from Osakako Station on the Chuo subway line. Admission is free. The facility is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. till Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Thursday through May 24.
