Kim and Hamilton will play together at CVS

BARRINGTON –– Anthony Kim, one of the rising stars on the PGA Tour, and Todd Hamilton, a former British Open champion who recently contended
at The Masters, will form one of the new teams in this year’s CVS Caremark Charity Classic. Tournament officials announced Thursday that both had agreed to participate in the 11th annual CVS at Rhode Island Country Club June 21-23 and work as a team. We’re thrilled to have Anthony and Todd playing in this year’s CVS Caremark Charity Classic. Both players bring lots of energy to the tournament and will be a huge draw for fans,” said Eileen Howard Dunn, tournament chairwoman. “Having these golf greats fuels the excitement for the event and in turn helps raise money to support our many deserving charity partners.” The two former University of Oklahoma stars have had very different careers. Kim, who will celebrate his 24th birthday two days before the CVS begins, has been pegged as a superstar since he was a teenager. Among other titles, he won the 2004 Northeast Amateur at Wannamoisett. He vaulted to prominence last year when he won both the Wachovia Championship and the AT&T National and had eight top 10 finishes in all. He also was one of the stars for the United States Ryder Cup team in its victory over Europe. He has agreed to do more than play in the tournament. CVS is launching an advertising campaign as part of the event and Kim will be one of those featured along with defending champion Camilo Villegas, Natalie Gulbis and Morgan Pressel.
Hamilton, 43, has had a very different career. He played all over the world for years, winning 14 times internationally. But it was not until he won the 2004 British Open that he earned himself a spot among the game’s best. He also won the Honda Classic that year.
