Kineticists organizers previously had been working with Boulder’s Parks and Recreation Department to possibly hold the June 13 event at a city park, but
Charmaine Getz, a volunteer, said the group was running short on time to secure a location. Getz said the Millennium Harvest House “stepped up” and offered a “very fortuitously timed offer” for the location. “We’re calling it an ‘urban challenge,’” Getz said. “We hope to have a lot of fun. We hope to raise a lot of money for charity.” Aside from the traditional handmade, human-powered mobile sculpture obstacle course, the event will include a contest for decorated bicycles and costumed riders, Getz said. One of the organizers, Paul Bailey, is encouraging costumes and said the event will be like “Halloween in summer.” The Kinetics vehicles also will be on display at the Harvest House’s Friday Afternoon Club concert series on June 12.
