April 29, 2009 With warmer weather fast approaching, passionate golfers are anxious to get back on their favorite course.
After a brief hiatus when the colder temperatures in the South prohibit some in the Upstate community from perfecting their swing, many of us set our collective sights on the BMW Charity Pro-Am. It is a special time of year, when our community unites to welcome the entourage from the PGA Tour, The Golf Channel and latest celebrity resident of South Carolina, Catherine Bell. This year will mark my fourth year playing as an amateur and admittedly, it is one of the greatest experiences of my life. To get to play alongside a Nationwide Tour Professional and share a casual conversation with some of Hollywood’s A-List celebrities is what makes this such an extraordinary experience. The money spent to participate in this cause was worth every penny. Not only am I getting a once in a lifetime opportunity, but my contribution is counted as part of the $6.6 million donated from this tournament to local charities in the last eight years. Mark Kent
