Lions Hold Benefit Golf Tourney For Pediatric Facility 2009: Proceeds Benefit

Lions hold benefit golf tourney for pediatric facility

The proceeds will benefit the UC Davis Health System’s Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Trauma Unit development and construction.
When completed, this facility will provide over six million residents with the highest level of critical health care for children, ranging from pre-mature infants to 18 years of age. The goal for one day event is to raise $100,000 for the pediatric center which is scheduled to open in the summer 2010. Kay K. Fukushima, Past International President of Lions Clubs International and Chairman of the Golf Tournament has secured a matching grant from the Lions Club International Foundation to help reach this goal. Fukushima stated, “The reason we are committed to building the pediatric emergency and trauma center is simple. Children’s lives depend on it and as members of the world’s largest service organization, this is one of many examples of things we do.” The daylong event will include 18 holes of golf, lunch, and beverages on the course, with a social hour and dinner to follow. Also included will be a live auction and raffle. The cost is $175 per person for the entire day of events, or dinner for $35. Scheduled to appear for the second consecutive year is celebrity guest, Dr. Andrew Baldwin, star of the television reality show “The Bachelor.” Baldwin was recently promoted to Lt.
Baldwin was so impressed with the project and the work of the Lions, he became a Lion member with the Senator Lions Club in Sacramento shortly after the tournament.
