Local golf WCIMercedesBenz Jr Tour gives out scholarships

Emily Cattanach of South Fort Myers and Garrett Farmer of Estero will receive $5,000 scholarships.
Blake Weeks of Fort Myers, Robert McGinnis of St. John Neumann, Grant Burgess of Mariner, and Kevin Reynolds of Bishop Verot will each receive $3,000 scholarships. The scholarships are awarded on an annual basis to junior golfers who participate in the WCI/Mercedes-Benz of Fort Myers Junior Golf Tour. The tour starts its ninth season on Saturday, June 9 with a Parent-Child Invitational at The Colony in Bonita Springs. Foundation membership costs $10. That consists of The First Tee Jr. Tour, with an 18-hole competitive format the Mini-Tour, a nine-hole tournament format and The First Tee Summer Camps, five weeks of golf and Life Skills instruction. Mini-Tour &mdash Ages 7-18 5 weeks, The Moorings Country Club and the Quality Inn & Suites Golf Resort Fridays, 11-1 p.m. Fee, $50 membership
