Greg Surmacz, the all-Canadian centre for the Windsor Lancers, has been named to Canada’s team for the FISU Games in July in Belgrade, Serbia.
It’s the second time the Peterborough native has been selected to play for Canada’s developmental team. University of Windsor athletic director, Gord Grace, is also making the trip as part of Canada’s support staff and former Lancer Djordje Azanjac is living near Belgrade and promised to act as tour guide for both men. Other OUA players named to the team include Ryerson’s Boris Bakovic, Carleton’s Aaron Doornekamp and Ottawa’s Josh Gibson-Bascombe. The World University Games run July 1-12.
