Marks Spencer 5p Plastic Bags

UK Retail Chain, Marks and Spencer, to Charge 5p for Plastic Bags

Iconic retail chain, Marks and Spencer, will donate the money they receive from the sale of plastic bags to charity.
This follows a trial at 50 M&S stores in Northern Ireland and south-west England, where demand for plastic bags was reduced by more than 70%.
As an alternative to plastic, ‘Bags For Life’ are available from M&S stores for 10p, which are replaced free of charge once they wear out.
Marks and Spencer are not the first retail chain to charge for plastic bags, Aldi and Lidl both charge around 5p for theirs, but they are the first to donate their charge to charity.
