Pennisi Real Estate Essendon will host the ball in a beautiful 149-year-old Ascot Vale mansion.
Since 2001, the agency has raised more than $80,000 for the Cancer Council through donations for its Moonee Valley Relay for Life team – and there is no slowing down. Pennisi Real Estate committee organiser Kimberley Cook said colleagues had been inspired to show the goodwill in their hearts and help people less fortunate. Last year’s ball raised $12,400 and Ms Cook said there was plenty of excitement and pressure this year. “It’s a little harder this year because the ball is on grand final eve, but we hope to be as successful.” Relay for Life at Windy Hill attracts hundreds of walkers and is a chance for the community to support cancer survivors and sufferers and those caring for people with cancer. The next Moonee Valley Relay for Life is in February 2010.
While local businesses have thrown their support behind the event by donating items for a silent auction, Ms Cook said more were needed.
