Times-Herald sports writer “Hopefully you’ll all come out and there’ll be plenty of excitement for everybody,” Yarrow said, looking ahead to the Kawasaki AMA
Superbike Showdown, May 15-17 at the bedeviling 12-turn, 2.22-mile road course. While the track has dealt out its share of punishment to riders in the past, there’s still no place like home. “This is definitely one of the better events for me,” Vacaville’s Casey said during a Q&A with fans on Tuesday. “I get to bring my wife and kids and gramma and grampa to come and support me. It’s kind of tough when I’ve got all that support … you feel like there’s a bit more weight on your back. But it’ll help push me a little harder being at the home track.” Petaluma High Ben Bostrom posted the fasted American Superbike time (1 minute, 37.19 seconds) during the opening test session, then shattered that mark on Tuesday in 1:36.6. He edged Suzuki riders Blake Young (1:36.80) and Mat Mladin (1:36.95). Bostrom had the best time, but it’s Mladin “The biggest thing for me is beat Mladin for the win here,” Bostrom said, reading off his checklist for the season. “Then I can look forward to winning the title and, maybe, winning a mountain bike race.”
The Bostrom Brothers are perennial favorites, although things will be a little different this season, with Eric taking the year off.
