TEENAGE politicians from Plymouth are backing a 24-hour charity relay and urging others to take part.
The overnight walking event, taking place in Plymouth for the first time, will be held at Devonport’s Brickfields sports ground from midday on July 18. Organisers are calling for volunteers and teams of 10 or more people, of all ages and any ability, to join in. Plymouth Youth Cabinet member Jenny Evans, aged 14 and from Eggbuckland, is taking part after her father’s recovery from cancer. “It seems everyone’s families are affected by cancer at one time,” she said. “It would make such a difference if we could find a cure. “Anything we can do to help make a difference, to stop other families going through what ours did, would be really good. “I’m really excited about the event. It would be really great if other people joined in and helped us make a difference,” she added.
Kate Taylor, a deputy Youth Parliament member aged 15, from Prince Rock, is also on the team.
