It is estimated that one child in a thousand live births worldwide has Down syndrome. Meaning instead of having just 46 chromosomes, a baby with this condition has an extra copy of one of these chromosomes. This extra copy affects the baby’s physical and mental development. Through early intervention and continuous rehabilitation (e.g. speech, occupational, and physical therapy) though, a person with Down syndrome, can achieve an optimal quality of life.

Down Syndrome Association (Singapore) is a self-funding, non-profit social service agency established in 1996, to “provide holistic support for families and caregivers [of people with Down syndrome]; facilitate a person with Down syndrome to attain his or her full potential; and enable them to contribute back to the society.” On October 28, they will be holding Mystique Charity Gala Dinner, a fundraising event for the association to continue providing services to support the Down syndrome community in Singapore.

Mystique Charity Gala Dinner is one of our signature fundraising events that helps to raise funds for our programmes and services. All funds raised will go towards the general fund of DSA and allow us to continue to reach out and serve more members of the Down syndrome community.
