Not Just Any Charity Donation An MampS Charity Donation 2009: Kindhearted Shop

Not just any charity donation An MampS charity donation

KIND-hearted shop workers have proved they are a charitable bunch by raising more than &pound2,500 for cancer sufferers.
Staff at the Caversham branch of M&S held a series of events over the last few months, including raffles and mufti days, to collect &pound1,300 for Reading and District Cancer Care. The store, which opened in St Martin’s Precinct in August 2006, is one of 27 M&S shops earmarked for closure because of tough Christmas trading conditions. But despite the economic gloom, M&S head office matched the collected cash to bring the total for the charity, which has a shop in Gosbrook Road, Caversham, to &pound2,612. Charity chairwoman Pauline Hollick said: “The money will go entirely towards cancer patients. “If they’re suffering financially because of their illness, we are one of the funds they can use. “The staff worked their socks off to raise the money and then what head office did in matching the funds was amazing. It’s such a shame the shop might be closing.”
