— He started Twittering because wanted to keep up with his buddies. Kyle Petty, for one. The NASCAR star was riding his motorcycle cross-country from North Carolina to Washington and “tweeting” along the way. So Lexie Love encouraged her father, Davis, to join the social networking site and see what his good friend Kyle was doing. “Lexie is my Twitter-er manager,” Love said with a smile. Davis Love III began using Twitter on Tuesday and already has more than 300 followers. (.) He’s exchanged messages with Petty, who begins his annual Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America on Friday. “I was just (twittering) starting out to see Kyle’s pictures because he’s with all my buddies,” Love said Wednesday. “What a great way to promote a charity event like that. I’m catching them on Sunday night. I fly to Salt Lake and I start riding Monday. “Hopefully I miss my 7 o’clock flight.” If he does, that means Love is in contention for his third PLAYERS Championship title. And he’s already started reaching out to his fans on Twitter — Love posted a picture of at the 17th hole while they were playing a practice round on Wednesday.
Love also gave a Twitter shout-out to his son Dru and the Frederica Academy golf team which came back after an overnight rain delay to win the Georgia state 2-A title. Love had taken Tuesday off to watch them and returned to Ponte Vedra on Wednesday morning.
