The event, hosted by NTT America customer VeriSign, Inc.
(NASDAQ: VRSN), the trusted provider of Internet infrastructure services for the networked world, will benefit the Junior League of Northern Virginia (JLNV), an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The tournament, which is held each spring and fall, has generated proceeds of more than $30,000 over the past two years. Funds raised have been used to assist Junior League of Northern Virginia community programs such as providing physicals, immunizations and school supplies to hundreds of uninsured children, and to assist monthly children’s programs at local homeless shelters. Proceeds from the 2009 tournament will be used to support similar programs in the coming year. “The tournament donations have played a critical part in advancing our mission and, more specifically, our efforts to provide meaningful programs that prepare children in Northern Virginia for success,” said Tamara Ashford, president, Junior League of Northern Virginia.
