NUSSU RAG & FLAG 2012

NUS Community Marks the Spirit of Giving

The annual Rag and Flag campaign organised by the National University of Singapore Students Union (NUSSU), in collaboration with the NUS Halls of Residence and the Faculty Clubs, is an event where NUS students, staff and alumni unite to mark the spirit of giving.

Flag Day, which will be taking place on 7 August 2012, will see about 6,000 NUS students seeking donations from members of the public island-wide. Aptly themed Ex Animo, which means giving from the heart in Latin, the campaign aims to encourage NUS students to be more altruistic by garnering public donations to benefit 20 charitable organisations under the Community Chest.

Rag Day is a unique, long-standing NUS tradition that is held as a gesture of appreciation by the students to the donors for their generous contributions. The event will see a procession of 14 floats hand-made by students using recycled materials in line with the theme EXcandescent, or glowing with passion. The parade will be held on 10 August 2012 at the grandstand of the Sports & Recreation Centre on the NUS Kent Ridge Campus.

The Rag Day event is open to the public and admission is free.
