“In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.”
Do you know where the stanza above came from? It’s from a poem entitled In Flanders Fields written by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae during World War I. This poem sparked the movement to adopt the poppy as a symbol of remembrance and hope. On November 2, the Royal British Legion, UK’s largest Armed Forces charity, will be having an event to remember the invaluable sacrifices of the armed forces community. Happening at the Crystal Palace Park, Poppy Walk London is a 3km walk wherein you get to commemorate the courageous contributions of servicepeople by planting a wooden poppy tribute. Funds raised from this event will go to the Royal British Legion who provides “lifelong support to serving and ex-serving personnel and their families.”

Come together during the Poppy Appeal for a short, family friendly walk to lay a poppy tribute and mark Remembrance.
This November we invite you to personalise and plant your own poppy tribute in honour of someone you may have loved and lost, and in recognition of what others have given and sacrificed for us all.
Bring friends and family together to celebrate the lives of Service men and women and help raise much-needed funds, as we share a moment of personal reflection on a sociable walk.
Former US President Abraham Lincoln once said, “”Honor to the soldier and sailor everywhere, who bravely bears his country’s cause. Honor, also, to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field and serves, as best he can, the same cause.” This November 2, show up at the Crystal Palace Park to honor and give thanks to the heroes then and now.
