Get involved TWO of Birmingham’s most established institutions have come together to help good causes across the city.
The Birmingham Press Club, which is the oldest of its kind in the world, has agreed to donate funds from its charity ball to the Birmingham Mail Charity Trust. The Trust, formerly known as the Christmas Tree Fund, will be one of two beneficiaries of the event, due to take place at the Burlington Hotel on October 23. Press Club chairman John Lamb said: “Our last event two years ago was a great success with about £15,000 raised for charity, mainly the Get A-Head cancer charity. “Two great Birmingham institutions are coming together to benefit a range of good causes across the city.” The Press Club was established in 1865 and has more than 350 members, including print and broadcast journalists.
The Trust was first established at the end of the 19th century to provide toys for deprived children.
