by Cami Mountain ROTHSCHILD (WAOW) — For any fundraising group it's important to raise money.
But a Rothschild group is trying to pull in some cash for Special Olympics. It take a lot of might to pull a 70,000 pound truck just 15 feet. Some athletes are doing it to support Special Olympics athletes, like James. He's active in all sorts of events, like swimming and weight lifting. James was asked “So you do a lot of events” He says, “Oh yeah. A lot of stuff. It's a lot of fun.”If if wasn't for fundraising events like this Semi Pull, James wouldn't get to play those sports. Special Olympics Director, Theresa Pries says, “It takes funds in order to get them to put on those competitions. So, this money is not only a great opportunity for the community to get involved in Special Olympics if they're unable to come and volunteer, they can come out and participate.” The 9th annual semi pull is put on by the Rothschild Police Department a group of men and women with strong arms and big hearts.
Retired police officer, Bob Roeske says, “You really see those kids struggle. Their struggle is every day. That's why we do it, is to help them.”
