Raising Charity Cash Is A Piece Of Cake For Students 2009: These Grimsby

Raising charity cash is a piece of cake for students

THESE Grimsby students used a different type of sponge to soak up the cash for charity.
Four friends from Franklin College held a cake sale at Grimsby’s Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital to raise money for the Bottoms Up Appeal. As reported, the Grimsby Telegraph is supporting consultant Henry Pearson’s plea to raise £150,000 for a High Observation Beds (HOBs) unit for people recovering from major bowel surgery at Grimsby’s Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital. And Chris Whotton (16), Katy Hill (17), Alicia Grimshaw (16) and Inga-Lisa Hansen (16) decided to cook up a storm to boost funds for the appeal. Alicia explained that they decided to hold a cake sale as part of one of their college courses. She said: “As part of our level three learning with others course we had to hold a charity event. “Most people held something around college but we decided to go to the hospital, which is where the money we raised will be used.”
The group, who baked more than 100 cakes, sold a selection of tasty cupcakes, brownies and flapjacks to hospital visitors.
