The mother of two boys who were killed in a car crash caused by a drunk footballer is to run the Edinburgh marathon for
a road safety charity. Amanda Peak’s sons Arron, 10, and Ben, eight, died when Plymouth goalkeeper Lee McCormick, 25, ploughed into their car at 97mph last June. He was jailed for almost seven and a half years. Mrs Peak, 30, from Partington, Manchester, will be running the marathon to raise money for Brake. She said: “I wanted to help to raise money for Brake and do something in memory of the boys. “I chose to run the marathon because Arron had wanted to take part in the Manchester Run this year, so it felt right. “The training has been tough but I have been determined to do this, not just for my boys, but in memory of everyone who has been killed by a drunk or drug driver.
“There is not enough done to highlight this issue and Brake does a fantastic job of educating road users.
