Special Opportunity 2009: Bmw Charity

Special opportunity

It is time for the BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament, the event that gives us a special opportunity to support local charities and showcase
the Upstate. And in this uncertain economy, we should all pull together to help support our local charities. The BMW Charity Pro-Am is unique because supports more than 70 charities that work to improve the quality of life in our communities. The economy also has affected the golf tournament, and some changes have been made to counter those effects. Our celebrities agreed to donate their appearance fees, which helps jump-start our goals. The tournament is a fundraising event, but it also showcases Upstate South Carolina, attracting visitors and perhaps new residents. We have been very encouraged by the “I was blown away” economic development campaign. The Golf Channel will once again air these commercials that showcase the beauty, culture and innovation in our region. Also, be on the lookout for more testimonials as we continue to display the magic of our area. The BMW Charity Pro-Am will be held Thursday through Sunday at Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, Thornblade Country Club in Greenville and Bright’s Creek Country Club in Mill Spring, N.C. Join us in whatever way you can. It will be fun. Robert M. Hitt Chairman, BMW Charity Pro-Am
Recently a friend and I visited the Piedmont Blood Center thinking that all we had to do was go in, donate blood and designate the recipient.
