BAYCATS HEAD TO T.
O. (STAFF) — The Barrie Baycats resume their Intercounty Baseball League semifinal playoff series with the Toronto Maple Leafs at 2 p. m. tomorrow at Christie Pits in Toronto. The Baycats take a 1-0 series lead into Game 2, with the series shifting back to Barrie for Game 3 on Tuesday at 7:30 p. m. In Thursday’s series-opener, Jordan Lundberg’s three-run blast propelled the Baycats to an 8-7 win. Lundberg finished with four RBI, while Dave Latour had two hits and drove in three runs. Ryan Spataro and Donovan Latour added two hits apiece for Barrie in a game that featured a bench-clearing brouhaha between the bitter rivals as the bottom of the seventh inning was set to get underway. Barrie pitcher Paul Spoljaric and designated hitter Matt Logan were ejected from the game, as were Maple Leafs second baseman Gamin Teague and first basemen Dan Gibbons. Spoljaric and Logan were suspended indefinitely yesterday, “as a result of the serious actions displayed by (the) players.” The league said it continues to review reports. The IBL was expected to rule on Teague and Gibbons last night. HAWK RIDGE HOSTS JUNIORS
