It will be Trivia Night at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Cabby Shack, 30 Town Wharf. Tables are $60 for a team of up to six people. The game is played as a team, with one answer per team, per question. Start getting your teams together now. All proceeds to benefit Plymouth South High athletics. Call Karen to make your reservations at 508-759-9490 to reserve a table. Space is limited and all tables will be advance sale only so don’t wait too long. Registration will be held from 8:15 to 9:50 a.m. and the race begins at 10. Post race activities include: Kid’s Fun Run, food by Bertucci’s, live music by the Fortune Pandas, raffle and awards. Registration and post race festivities will be held at Bertucci’s Italian Restaurant, at 6 Plaza Way. The race course starts and ends on Plaza Way. The total race purse is valued at $1,000. The overall Men’s and Women’s division top three finishers will receive $125-$85-$55, paid in Bertucci’s certificates. There are seven age divisions for men and women. The top three finishers in each age group will receive $20, $10 and $5, paid in Dick’s Sporting Goods certificates. PACTV of Plymouth and MCT of Marshfield will film the race to be cablecast from Weymouth to Plymouth. The goal of the Plymouth Manomartian 5K Road Race/Fitness Walk is to provide summer camp access to 50 Plymouth children who would otherwise not be able to attend. The late-June to mid-August day camps, run by the Plymouth Recreation Department, cost $150 per child and are held at Briggs Field and Stephens Field. The race will raise funds for the Recreation Department’s gift account to assist families that cannot afford to send their children to camp. Golfers are invited to play in the third annual “Fund Fore the Needy” golf tournament at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 21, at Waverly Oaks Golf Club in Plymouth. This is one of the final events to be held at the outstanding Waverly Oaks Golf Club located at 444 Long Pond Road. Cost for the tournament includes a round of golf, cart, gift and dinner. Team or individual reservations are being accepted. The outing will feature a scramble format with a shotgun start scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and last place teams as well as closest-to-the-pin, longest drive, and hole-in-one. The evening’s activities will include a helicopter ball drop, silent and live auctions during dinner. Cost for the event is $560 per pre-arranged foursome or $150 individual. Cost for dinner only is $35 per person. The fund for the needy serves the emergency assistance needs of residents in the South Plymouth area. This nonprofit charity supports a food pantry, supplies critical utility and medical funds, and assists with emergency housing for those facing financial difficulties. The fund also prepares holiday dinner baskets twice a year. The fund does not discriminate based on race, sex, ethnic or religious affiliation. The fund for the needy is administered by St. Bonaventure Parish in Manomet, but its finances are maintained separately from those of the parish. This is the sole fundraising event of the fund. The Old Colony YMCA youth soccer program for ages 4, 5, and 6 takes place Saturdays from 11 a.m. to noon through May 23, at Old Colony YMCA Camp Clark, 200 Hedges Pond Road, Plymouth. The cost is $60 per child. This league will allow children to have fun, meet new friends, and learn the basics of the game in a non-competitive atmosphere. Call to register, 508-888-2290.
Plymouth South Booster Club will hold a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 20, in the parking lot at Plymouth South High School. Attic treasures of all kinds are welcome. Scour your home and take your gently used items to benefit these high school athletes. Booster Club is selling spaces for $10. Space is limited so book your space early. Proceeds from the actual sale of items will remain with the participants, only the one-time space fee will be charged to participants. Take your own tables or other displays.
