Steamboat Springs welcomes ChickfilA Kyle Petty Charity Ride

Motorcycle and NASCAR racing enthusiasts rejoice! Steamboat Springs, Colorado has officially been announced as one of nine American cities that will host an overnight
stop on Monday, May 11 on the annual . NASCAR driver Kyle Petty and more than 200 Ride participants will begin their 3,500-mile trek from the state of Washington to Greensboro, N.C. on May 8, stopping in Steamboat Springs just 3 days later. “It’s hard to believe we’ve been crisscrossing the country on our bikes for 15 years,” said “We have a great time, but it’s really all about the kids. We’ve seen so many lives touched through Victory Junction and the other charities we’ve partnered with over the years. Pattie and I are looking forward to many more successful Rides. These riders make kids’ dreams come true.” The Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America is a benefit for , a camp in Randleman, N.C, serving chronically ill children at no cost to their families. The camp was founded in 2004 by Kyle and Pattie Petty in honor of their son Adam who died while racing at New Hampshire International Speedway in 2000. The Petty family will break ground on a second Victory Junction in Kansas City, Kansas on May 13. Next week will mark exactly 15 years since the inaugural Kyle Petty Charity Ride left Sacramento, California on its first cross-country journey. Riders have traveled approximately 7.9 million cumulative motorcycle miles, and 13 riders have participated all 15 years. More than $12 million has been donated to Victory Junction and other charities that support chronically ill children. More than 200 motorcycle riders, including 1988 Heisman Trophy Winner Herschel Walker PGA Tour Professional Davis Love III. Chick-fil-A President and COO Dan Cathy NASCAR legend Harry Gant, and NASCAR legend Kyle Petty will arrive in Steamboat Springs, Colorado on Monday, May 11, 2009 as part of the Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America event. Steamboat Springs is the ONLY Colorado stop on the 2009 Tour, so leather up and head to Steamboat, or hop in your “cage” — either way it’s a perfect spring road trip.
