Rachiel Hartmann made good on a long-held promise Saturday.
The Hospital for Sick Children tried to help a childhood friend about a decade ago. Her chum, who she declined to name, died. But the St. Mary’s College student knew staff at the Toronto hospital did their best to help the youngster who was hit by a car. “Without them he would have passed away a lot sooner,” said Hartmann. The Grade 12 student organized a dinner and dance at Waterfront Inn and Conference Centre Saturday night. The event raised $500. Hartmann plans to organize another benefit in the future, one she hopes will raise even more cash for charity. “I want to do more,” she said.
“(Saturday’s event) was definitely stressful, but it was worth it in the end.”
