Ten Men In Tent Soldier On 2009: Men Tent

Ten Men in Tent soldier on

The Ten Men in Tent charity event to raise funds for Project SHARE lost one of its members Tuesday – but it wasn’t due
to the extreme heat. Radio personality Rob White was taken to hospital after a he was struck in the head by a falling speaker. “A bit of a wind came up and unfortunately the speaker blew over and it struck him right in the temple,” said Review publisher Dave Martineau. White, a disc jockey at 105.1 The River, was first tended to by Dr. George Zimakis, another member of the tent crew, and the physician recommended he be taken to hospital to be checked out. While his team-mates sat in the heat, White underwent a CT scan at the Greater Niagara General Hospital. He returned to the tent late in the afternoon, hooked up to an IV and his head wrapped in bandages and gauze. As of the afternoon, he was planning to stay – under a doctor’s care – even though his team-mates would need to wake him up every two hours.
White, Martineau and Zimakis are among ten local community leaders who are spending five days in a tent at the corner of Montrose Road and Thorold Stone Road to raise money, donations of food, and awareness for Project SHARE.
