Top Stories Sea Of Green For Mail Fun Run 2009: Involved Birmingham

Top Stories Sea of green for Mail Fun Run

Get involved BIRMINGHAM is set to become a sea of green this Sunday as thousands of people turn out for this year’s Mail Fun
Run. More than 1,700 entrants will be lacing up their trainers and wearing their green Macmillan T-shirts to run, jog or walk the 5km course. One runner who has already signed up to take part is film producer Martin Nigel Davey, from Rednal. The 43-year-old is a committed supporter of Macmillan, and last year produced a short film, Waiting in Rhyme, to raise funds for the cancer charity. The 15-minute flick was shot in the Lickey Hills and featured Coronation Street stars Sally Lindsay and Johnny Briggs, comic Les Dennis and Dani Harmer who plays Tracy Beaker on TV. Regular runner Nigel said he was looking forward to this year’s event, which kicks off at Perry Park at 10am. “This year is going to be fantastic,” he said. “With everyone wearing their Macmillan T-shirts it will be a sea of green.”
Nearly 1,000 copies of Waiting in Rhyme have been sold online and at the Birmingham and Irish Centre and Nigel will also be selling copies at the Fun Run.
