VAG Fair 2008 2009: Vag Fair

VAG Fair 2008

VAG Fair is quickly becoming an August tradition in Central Pennsylvania.
For the past two years, Cory Sterling from Euro Auto Source (and builder of Cory Caddy in Garage Projects) has put together this well-rounded VW/Audi show with plenty of prizes and activities. In fact, it’s become a festival no East Coast enthusiast should overlook. And with the event timed to drop in between Waterfest and H2Oi, how can you lose What’s nice about VAG Fair is the absence of drama and politics. The atmosphere is laidback and inviting. In fact, many cars don’t even come to show or compete owners simply park their cars and hang out with fellow fanatics. This year’s event doubled the previous year’s attendance and, according to Cory, the Mk3 Golf and Jetta crowd was the most prevalent group at the show. But that doesn’t mean there weren’t plenty of old-school heads or Mk5 guys, since 360 show cars filed into York Fairgrounds. New this year was “Madness on the Midway” competition. The four most qualified, pre-registered cars were selected the night before the show and invited to compete in a special display area. The winner would receive an automatic invitation to Top Dawg at H2Oi and receive a cash prize as well. And the winner was Mike Melbert’s ’03 GTI from the cover of et 10/08.
Another popular attraction was the silent auction. Tuners such as Techtonics, Black Forest, Speedware, 42DD and 8380 Labs donated gifts for the auction and all proceeds benefited a local charity for muscular dystrophy.
