Walk for Hope 2023

Step by step, we inspire hope.

Walking is a simple and enjoyable activity that has numerous health benefits for both the body and mind. Regular walking can improve cardiovascular fitness, strengthen muscles and bones, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. Additionally, walking can also have positive effects on mental health, reducing stress and anxiety and improving overall mood.

Aside from the physical and mental health benefits, walking can also be a great way to support a charitable cause. Many charities organize sponsored walks or challenges, which involve participants raising money through pledges for completing a certain distance or time spent walking. This not only helps raise awareness and funds for the charity, but it also provides an opportunity for people to get active and engage with their community.

Speaking of walking for charity, one upcoming event that embodies this spirit is the Walk for Hope 2023 organized by Wessex Cancer Trust.

1 June @ 12:00 am – 30 June @ 11:59 pm
Turn your steps into support this June with Virtual Walk for Hope 2023
Our annual walking event is back, and this year you can decide the route, the date and the distance! Raise money for people affected by cancer with every step you take.

What do you mean by a virtual event?
This year’s Walk for Hope is all about walking your own way! Whether you have a favourite route, want to explore somewhere new, or even take part while you’re on holiday, sign up, set your own challenge and decide where and when you walk. You can do it in one day, or break it up into small, more manageable chunks over the course of the month – whatever works for you!

Who can take part?
Walk for Hope isn’t a race, so it’s a perfect event for the whole family, including dogs, to get involved! Walking is great for boosting our physical and mental wellbeing. It’s also a lovely opportunity to get out in nature, enjoy time with your friends and family, and share memories if you’re taking part in memory of someone.

What you get for signing up:
> Some recommended routes if you need inspiration
> Tips for fundraising
> Walking dos and dont’s, including a packing list
> Gift Aid form
> Plus a Medal once you’ve smashed your steps!
